Dang. I’ve been planning a visit but they are still closed (which I support). That is one beautiful tower of automotive oddity!
I can recognize the Tatra and i know the “Goliath something" from their website. Looks like a Subaru Samba second from the top. I also live the Citroen ramp truck. That had to be hard to make from a unibody.

They even got the details correct. The Citroen's bonnet is up!

No, it’s close though. You might find it on the website.
Did the Tatra get a paint job recently?

I’m a fan of this Snowrunner-ish stacking

The Citroën CX Flatbed basically has a completely new rear frame section. They used to cut them in half behind under the rear seats, such as to have a bit of overlap to weld the new rear chassis in.
This website shows some pictures of how they do it for a 6- wheel 4- door Loadrunner, but the construction principle is the same: https://www.rammstahl.de/sixwheeler/fotogalerie-von-gesammelten-cx-spezialbildern/

The little top one is one of those French VSPs - an Acoma Mini Comtesse!
Jason Torchinsky from Jalopnik did a ‘Jason Drives!’ video on it awhile back...hilarious little thing! :D

Goliath was a German brand which primarily made trucks and small cars
, which is about as much as I know about them....you got the rest right! LOVE the paint on that Tatra! :D

I really wanted to call it a CX but I wasn’t sure enough to, but looks like I was right on that one too.
I remember that one now. Jason was wearing a prison jumpsuit for some reason. . .

That is a great website. Looks like they restore older conv ersions too. Why the CX though? I did see a stretch convertible that looked a little flimsy, but the method behind the rear frame seems pretty solid.

Yes, he was using the Jumpsuit as an explanation :P
Something about it and the car being one size fits all, utilitarian coverings that make you look a bit like an idiot. :P

Hey kids, I used to be a delinquent too! And I turned out. . . . nevermind you’ve got a bright future ahead of you.
Thank you for posting that video. I forgot how hilarious it was. We need more Jason Drives.

The CX (and DS) has a long history of being converted to 6-wheelers. The self levelling suspension makes them ideal for high speed, relatively dense deliveries. In the 70s/80s enclosed ‘Loadrunner’ versions were for instance used to distribute newspapers across Europe overnight

That sounds very romantic when you put it like that. Bravely shuttling papers in the wee hours of the morning in your converted self leveling Citroen Loadrunner. Why did newspapers need a silky smooth ride to be delivered?

The speed was the main reason. These guys would put the pedal to the metal when leaving the printers, and would keep it pinned at 100mph all the way, maybe only stopping for fuel on some of the longer routes . I remember reading about an 8h trip from Amsterdam to Marseille being normal (which is over 1200km). And all of this while carrying 1-1.5 metric tonnes of newspapers in the back! No way you could beat that with trucks.

It really does sound romantic when you put it like that. Now I see why the overall massive size may not have mattered as much. Reminds me of that 196 0s Mercedes Race Car Transporter in concept that brought the cars back to be repaired at the factory. I guess fewer printing shops meant they saved on typesetting. I never thought about the massive logistical dilemmas of bringing breaking news across a continent as quickly as possible.
